The PendlerDuellen ("The Commuter Duel") app is part of an innovative anti-speeding campaign from the Danish road infrastructure authority, Vejdirektoratet. The main part of the campaign is a competition designed to teach young drivers the advantages of following the speed limit, and the dangers of breaking it. The app uses the GPS receiver in the participants' mobile phones to track their driving speeds. The driver who follows the speed limit with the most consistency wins the competition. The first prize is the right to attend the 2010 LeMans in France as a VIP guest, and as if that wasn't enough, the winner will have an Aston Martin DB9 for his or her disposal for the entire trip. The app is available for iPhone through the App Store and JavaME handsets through Loadstar. Just point the browser in your GPS-enabled JavaME handset to mobil.pendlerduellen.dk.

Test Your Hearing is a fun little application that uses high-frequency tones to examine your hearing abilities. Using the app is simple: when you hear a tone, press the big red button. When the test is completed, the app will give you your hearing age based on the average age-related hearing loss. If your hearing age is greater than your own age, you have probably listened to too much loud music. While it may not replace an otologist, it is a fun and easy way to check if your hearing is alright.
